- CEILINGS REFLECT DESIGN POSSIBILITIES
A
stunning home in Yorkshire has shown how Luxalon’s
domestic aluminium ceilings collection can be used
throughout the home to imaginative effect. The contemporary
property, owned by an entertainer/interior designer,
is situated near Rotherham. Angled panels plus an
inventive use of finishes and textures has helped
the owner realise her unique design scheme.
Having
seen the ceilings in a magazine, the owner contacted
Luxalon direct. The initial brief was for the hall,
stairs, landing and downstairs cloakroom but the owner
was so delighted with the results that she also commissioned
the ceilings for the kitchen, bathroom and a bedroom.
The closed ceiling system features variations in panel
widths and finishes to add interest and incorporates
integrated lighting throughout.
Mirror
ceilings were chosen to complement the downstairs
cloakroom and hall/stairs/landing which has an oriental
theme of black and metallic lacquered paint effects.
The mirrored panels give a feeling of light and space
to the narrow hallway and ensure continuity between
the ground and first floors. The ceiling, which has
been continued above the stairwell, presented a technical
challenge yet truly demonstrates the versatility of
the ceiling systems.
In
the kitchen, a matt grey aluminium ceiling echoes
the granite floor and provides a contrast to the red
wall tiles. The 150 mm wide panels feature six pieces
of gold mirror tile to complement the décor.
For the bathrooms, the owner chose high gloss white
ceilings with silver accent strips to match her metallic
design theme.
This project shows how aluminium ceilings can be used
to create surprising and dramatic effects in residential
